As an independent commercial organization, we collaborate with farmers to find truly practical solutions for you as a farmer. First and foremost, a secure safe that brings together data from various sources, making it more accessible to you. And on top of that safe, smart apps that support you daily with your livestock, crop, and soil.
The idea for the vault originated years ago in conversations with various farmers, including farmers from the Boer & Data foundation. We are working to fulfill their vision for the Data Safe (in Dutch) by developing the safe itself, apps, various projects, and targeted experiments.
Would you like to contribute your ideas or participate as a farmer? Then be sure to contact us.
Practical apps
Do you want to monitor important data / KPIs? Do you want to analyze sensor data relative to samples? Do you want to perform a trend analysis to determine whether or not you need to intervene?
Farm Intelligence provides you with a clear overview of relevant (real-time) data. You can combine and analyze your data from various sources.
When was the last visit of the vet? Where's the delivery note from the last time? What did I see last time in the field near the canal?
You can use the Logbook to keep notes and documents, and to record all sorts of practical things that aren't (yet) available in other systems.
Vion and several dairy farmers are improving calf health and reducing their stress through the Young Beef project. For approximately 400 calves, this app supports the project in recording and improving the feeding, treatment, movement, and grazing of individual calves.
By working with farmers on the farm to develop the app and discussing realistic expectations with Vion, we were able to develop this app with minimal registration burden for farmers.
As an IT provider, we were also involved in the development of the Digital Grassland Calendar (DGGK). The DGGK makes it easy for farmers to digitally plan, record, analyze, and optimize all forage harvesting activities (including growing corn or other forage crops). More information about the DGGK can be found at www.dggk.nl.
For all apps we develop and all projects we're involved in, we always prioritize the farmer's best interests. We prefer a simple app with a clear signal over AI or complex models that offer little practical added value. The farmer's best interests come first, and only then do we consider the technology, including AI, blockchain, and so on, and never the other way around.
The safe in practice
Robert Nijkamp runs a free-range broiler and dairy farm in Raalte. Besides being founder of the Boer & Data foundation, he's also an advocate of the data safe (Dutch). In the video below, he explains how he uses data that normally provides insights after the fact to make adjustments beforehand.
Animal health determines whether you have a healthy flock and, therefore, a good income. Early intervention using data can prevent many problems.
